Brisbane Pest Control Website Wins Design Award

pestcontrolnorthbrisbaneAfter much deliberation the All Arts team have selected our favourite new website design for 2014. For its clean styling, easy to use interface and interactive and cool looking contact form selection we have chosen the Pest Control North Brisbane website as this year’s winner. The website’s main feature is a display of pests which can be targeted and clicked on via crosshairs. This adds the selected pest type to the contact form on the right of the page where the rest of the details can be easily filled out to get in contact with the pest control team.

The site was developed by the marketing and web development team at BrisDigital, a digital marketing agency based also based on the northside of Brisbane. The simple yet effective idea has given a huge boost to the pest control team from Brisbane’s northside massively increasing their contact conversion rate and helping them dramatically improve the number of jobs coming through each month.

We spoke with Julieanne at Pest Control North Brisbane who has been overjoyed at the public response to the new website and the fact that it has gained so much media attention. “At first I wasn’t so sure about the contact form idea,” she said. “I didn’t want the website to appear unprofessional or like a computer game, but I trusted the marketing team at BrisDigital as they have been so helpful to the growth of my business over the past 5 years and things have worked out great. For a site built on such a low budget we really couldn’t be happier!”

A close runner up to the Pest Control Website came with the latest offering from Rental Guardians, a property management team also from Brisbane. Their new site which was only launched in the last month is a huge improvement on their old, dated website, and really helps them stand out against their competitors in the property management arena.

The beautifully designed website with clean styling and a simplistic but aesthetic theme is a pleasure to look at. While property management probably isn’t the most exciting topic, we could browse the pages of this site all day. The site was developed by Darren a freelance web designer on the Gold Coast, through his company Knight Media. We attempted to get in touch with Darren to discuss the site design and his impressive design abilities but he was too busy working on other projects to speak with us.

Nevertheless we look forward to seeing what Darren and the team at BrisDigital come up with in the near future, and we wish all the best to the teams at Pest Control North Brisbane and Rental Guardians.

Website Design Inspiration

Because the team here at All Arts are interested in all things design and creativity related, we recently ventured into the online realm to take a look at several local Australian web designers and their recent creations. As the internet ages, it becomes harder and harder to think of website design ideas that haven’t been done before, and a lot of newer designs are just adaptions of older ones with changes that the designers hope are improvements.

Screen Shot 2014-03-28 at 5.04.15 PMThe recent advent of WordPress has completely changed the website creation landscape. Now the number one website builder in the world, WordPress has made it possible for any Joe Schmoe to sit down at a computer and build a website. This has been great for the industry simply by the fact that it has brought a plethora of new web designers and their artful creations onto the Internet landscape, the small price to pay being that there are lots more spammy and poorly designed sites now hosted online as well, as newbies and spammers take advantage of this easy-to-use platform.

A simple Google search for “Website Design Awards” will bring up a host of brilliant and beautiful sites. From the wacky to the wonderful, it’s easy to find a host of web design art and creative ideas if you’re looking for inspiration for your next website showpiece. We took a look as some magnificent designs, as a new wave of young Australian talent breaks into the web design scene. Today we would like to discuss some of the inspirational designs Gold Coast web design team Knight Media have created over the past year.

Brisbane SkylineDarren the founder of Knight Media has been working in the website design and development scene since 1998. Having been in the industry for so long has given him a very important “sixth-sense” when it comes to creating sites that appeal visually, but are also easy-to-use and convert at a high rate. One website he has recently finished updating is for a Brisbane-based Digital Marketing Agency. BrisDigital are a SEO and digital marketing company and wanted a website the would impress, while also being informative and functional. Knight Media suggested the night-time, fish-eye photograph which is the focal point of the website because it alludes to the company being modern and fresh, and the fading horizons of the globe represent how the world is now completely connected via digital means.

“The directors of BrisDigital loved the idea of the Brisbane skyline shot from a helicopter. The stunning photo really does take center stage on the website and builds a subconscious connection between the advent of technology and the digital-world and the Brisbane SEO company in the mind of the viewer.” He said. “There is always an angle that needs to be represented to make any website successful. In some industries building trust is the most important thing to converting traffic, while in others giving a comforting vibe is more important.”

bohoaustraliaDarren and the team at Knight Media have recently expanded their operations and are now building site for clientele all around the globe, not just locally on the Gold Coast. That said however, another of their websites which we really like the look of is The Freedom State, a Gold Coast-based online store that specializes in bohemian clothing. Based in Australia but selling globally, The Freedom State has built a very strong following during the short time it has been operating.

“The simply design really puts the focus on the photography that showcases our bohemian collections of dresses, pants, tops and accessories.” Mandy, the owner of The Freedom State said when we spoke with her on Skype. “Everybody loves the look of the new website and since it went up in early December last year, traffic has been up and we have been converting at a higher rate. Working with the team at Knight Media has been one of the best business decision I have made!” Taking a look through Darren’s portfolio of prior work we are sure there are a host of other people who are also overjoyed with their stunningly designed and successful new websites.

If you’re an up and coming designer or just want to get some inspiration for your own website, take a look at any of the host of new talent being showcased all around the globe and adapt the ideas to suit your business. There are so many vibrant and creative new talents on the global web design scene, perhaps you too can be one of them?
